A Heat Pump Tumble Dryer works in a closed loop, recycling warm air through a heat exchanger rather than venting it outside or using a high-temperature element. This generally means lower energy use per cycle. It also removes the need for an external duct, which makes it suitable for flats and rooms without access to an outside wall.

Most Heat Pump Tumble Dryers collect condensed moisture in an internal tank that you empty manually after each cycle. Many models also have an option to connect a drain hose so the water removes itself automatically. Which method you use depends on the model and where you install it. Check the product listing for the specific unit you are considering.

A Compressor Dehumidifier condenses moisture by passing air over a cold coil — it is efficient in rooms held at a normal indoor temperature. A desiccant dehumidifier removes moisture by drawing it into an absorbent material and works more consistently in cooler conditions. For spaces that are not regularly heated — a garage, loft room or outbuilding — a desiccant model from the Dehumidifiers collection is usually the more practical choice. Desiccant units continue to extract moisture effectively at lower ambient temperatures, whereas Compressor Dehumidifiers are at their most efficient in rooms that stay consistently warm throughout the year.
